Dive deeper into the message with these discussion questions!
General:
- How do you typically make decisions? What goes into your decision-making process?
- What is one decision in your life that you wish you could take back?
- How can we embrace a deeper understanding of the presence of violence and violent imagery throughout Scripture?
- Reflect on the times you have gone through difficulty or troubling times. Have you ever seen restoration in the middle of it?
- Do you believe that in the midst of chaos and suffering, God is still working? What keeps you from seeing that?
- Do you ever find yourself putting your trust more in your own strength, power, or riches rather than the Lord?
- What is one decision you need to make today based on this week’s message?
Take Home 1: We must decide whether we believe God is sovereign (Na. 2:1-2a)
- Do you live your life in a way that shows you believe He is sovereign over your story?
- What thoughts or feelings come to you when you think about God’s sovereignty?
- What are the implications of God’s sovereignty when it comes to our world today?
- Do you struggle with the tension between God’s sovereignty and human free will?
Take Home 2: We must decide whether we believe Scripture is true
- What does it mean to you to believe that Scripture is objective truth?
- Reflect on how God’s Word impacts your life or how you approach it. How would you describe your relationship with Scripture? (Does it feel guiding, comforting, hopeful, challenging, doubtful, or perhaps something else?)
- Have there ever been times in your life when you asked yourself, “Did God really say…?”
- How does viewing Scripture as objective truth change how you live out your faith?
Take Home 3: We must decide whether we will walk in peace (Na. 2:2)
- What does it mean to you to “walk in peace” in your daily life?
- What challenges or obstacles make it difficult for you to choose peace?
- How can you remember to walk in peace in the midst of suffering, difficulty, or doubt?
- How do you think others would describe you with regard to fostering peace?
- In what areas of your life do you feel called to choose peace over conflict or worry?
