When Tension is Running High

In week one of Nahum, Pastor Chip reminds us that we are not in control. God is ultimately in control in our lives!

Do you ever feel “spring-loaded-ness”? What tensions do you currently see in your life that keep you from hearing from others?

• How do you typically react to the uncertainty and evils of the world?

With regard to the Big Idea of this series, which is to help us as people of God learn how to react to the uncertainties of this world, how would you grade yourself at this point in your life? Why?

In what ways might you resemble Nahum in your own life?

What strikes you as interesting or noteworthy from this chapter in Nahum? Which of God's attributes stand out to you as remarkable?

Pastor Chip goes to great lengths to emphasize God’s sovereignty in this message. What thoughts or feelings come to you when you think about the sovereignty of God?

How do we balance the fact that God is sovereign and at work in ways we don't know with being the hands & feet of Christ?

Take Home 2: God's ways are beyond us fully and exhaustively understanding and comprehending (Na. 1:3)

In what ways do you try to fashion God into your own image?

• Think back to the most recent whirlwind. How did you handle it? (Your attitude? Your thoughts? Your emotions?) • Take a moment to reflect on your life and circumstances. Where do you see a lack of trust in the Lord?
