Where is God Calling You to Take Action?

In the first week of "It's Who We Are", Pastor Michael Cason dives into our culture point Kingdom Come.

Dive deeper into the message with these discussion questions!

General:

  • What do you think of when you think of a team?
  • Do you agree with the statement "culture trumps everything" on a team? If so, why? If not, what would you say does?
  • In verses 17-20, the friends of the paralyzed man went to great lengths to bring him to Jesus. What does this teach us about our role in helping others experience “heaven meets earth” moments?
  • The paralyzed man’s healing was both physical and spiritual. How can we pray or act this week to help others experience the fullness of God’s kingdom?
  • In what ways might we sometimes act like the Pharisees in the passage—focusing on rules, doubt, or skepticism instead of faith and compassion?
  • What does the condition of your heart reveal about your relationship with Jesus, and how can you take steps to draw closer to Him?
  • As we enter into the new year, what areas of your life might you need to bring to Jesus for healing or restoration?

Take Home 1: Every moment of our lives that is met with faith and action is an opportunity for Heaven to meet earth (Lk. 5:19)

  • Does your faith lead you to action, or has it led you to sit idly by?
  • When was the last time you intentionally reflected Jesus to someone in need, and how can you look for more opportunities to do so?
  • Are you willing to be inconvenienced to serve someone? How so?
  • When was the last time you met someone where they were in their need and shared the love of Jesus with them? How can you be more intentional about doing this?

Take Home 2: If we're going to see a Heaven meets earth moment, we're going to have to lay down our preconceived notions of what that should look like

  • How often might we miss “Heaven meets earth” moments because they don’t look the way we expect?
  • How can we become more aware of God’s work in unexpected ways?
  • How might living as an intentional neighbor create opportunities for others to experience “Heaven meets Earth” moments through you?

Take Home 3: When we know who we are we can reflect what Christ has done (Lk. 5:26)

  • How can understanding who we are in Christ and as a church help us avoid letting others define our identity? Our mission? Our purpose?
  • What role do you see yourself playing in God’s story within your family? Workplace? Community? How might God be calling you to live this out more intentionally?
  • Have you ever shared your story of how God is working in your life? If not, how might sharing your story?

Take Home 4: To see His Kingdom come, we have to commit to doing our part

  • What does it mean to you personally to “do your part” in advancing God’s Kingdom?
  • Where might God be calling you to take action this year? What practical steps can you take this week to actively contribute to God’s Kingdom in your daily life?
